Coventry Meet-up
The Somalilander community in Coventry, West Midlands organised a great meet-up on Saturday 28th October 2023 for the Friends Of Somaliland community attended in large numbers by members of the Coventry Somalilander community and visitors from London & Milton Keynes.
The Coventry landers really did go out of their way to host the visitors and prepare a lot of great food and drinks as buffet for the guests to indulge.
The attendees were landers of all ages which contributed to creating a great atmosphere and a family friendly vibe enjoyed by everyone attending.
Our host for the evening was Mr Abdirazaq I. Ahmed who opened the ceremony with verses from the holy Qur’aan, welcomed everyone to the event then it was time for the Somaliland national anthem to be played followed by our chairman Mr Eid H. Muse providing a brief of the organisation’s main goals and objectives as well as the need and timeliness of establishing Friends Of Somaliland.
Similarly, a number of the founding members and some select guests also said a few words before some delicious food and drinks was served.
Once everyone has enjoyed their meal, a few selected national songs were played before taking some memorable photos and making pledges of support for the cause and organising other similar meet-ups in other cities in the UK in the near future and concluding the event successfully.
It really was a great event enjoyed by everyone attending and a special thanks goes to the Somalilanders from Coventry who hosted us for their generosity and warm welcome. See our gallery for more photos and our YouTube channel for videos from the event.
